FACILITIES

Orchard Rise is a stand-alone facility with a floor area of 80m2, incorporating 2 generous isolation booths, control room, rehearsal space, storage facilities and outdoor workspace.

The Studio sits a short distance from the main house, and has seperate access and parking. The outlook is relaxed, the surrounds abound in natural beauty, and the building designed to help the creative mood. A covered balcony provides a great space for relaxing and jamming between sessions.

Within the Studio, two isolation booths have clear line of sight to each other and the central mixing room. This keeps the subtle body-language interaction between performers, which in turn helps capture better performances. The booths have ample space for an inidividual performer and their gear, whether this be a vocalist, guitarist, string, wind or percussion player.

The larger central room is designed to work equally well as a routine mixing space and a rehearsal and jamming space for groups of 6-8 people. This main room also enables a full drum kit to be played live while musicians and vocalists working in the two booths remain isolated. This helps capture that live energy that comes from working directly with each other on a take, rather than always relying on overdubs.

Quality fittings have been used throughout, from the custom cable and wall fittings, the patching and monitoring system, to the core recording hardware and software and instruments available on site.

The studio operates a Digidesign 002 Rack Protools LE interface, with an Apple G5 computer and firewire storage medium. Full MIDI capabilities are catered for, including SampleTank sound samples, and a range of outboard gear, including Alesis, JBL, and Tascam components provide complimentary capacity. A suite of quality microphones provide initial capture, including Rode,  Shure, AKG, and AudioTechnica. Specialist gear for offsite choral and school projects or live PA setups is also available.

Acoustic guitars, electric bass, Roland and Yamaha keyboards, an Alesis sound module, and a variety of western and world wind and percussion are available.
